fin - your fishmonger's local owners, Pete Kenyon and Dora Swan, raised their families in Niskayuna and Ballston Spa, respectively, before moving to a sweet home that brings our grown families together "just outside" the village of Altamont, NY.  As a family of seafood lovers, we knew there were no places around to get really good, fresh, sustainable seafood. That's how fin - your fishmonger was born.

fin - your fishmonger started as an idea on our back porch. Then, we moved that idea to the Saturday Delmar Farmer's Market in August, 2011. We developed a loyal, vocal, effervescent, FUN following pretty quickly. Our customers demanded that we have a presence after the market closed - so we did! We moved to a hardware store parking lot. fin offers fresh, sustainable seafood that is premium, Grade A, top-of-the-catch.  It's what we would buy for ourselves.  Our quality assurance team at Boston Fish Pier works with us to assure that we have only the best to offer our loyal fin fans.  Using the Monterey Bay Aquarium Seafood Watch and other scientifically and environmentally-reputable sources as sustainability and responsibility guides, fin - your fishmonger brings the highest quality seafood to the region.

fin - your fishmonger does not substitute cheaper species or cuts of fish.  Mislabeling fish makes it difficult for consumers to make eco-friendly choices. 

The seafood from fin is not the whole haul brought in by a day boat's fishermen, varying in quality.  Our exacting standards bring to our customers seafood labeled Grade A, specifically chosen for us.

 

Our customers know that when they purchase seafood from fin, the product has been "out of the water" only a day or two.  That's fresh!
